Fine Arts
From Graphite and Watercolor Pencil Drawing, to Oil Painting, students enrolled in one or more offerred fine arts courses learn the fundamentals of art, color concepts, perspective, shading, and more.

  • For 10 years old and up
How the class is taught:
First, students will learn thumbnail sketch of the subject matter. Students will then draw or paint along with the instructor, Amy Leung, step by step. There will be detailed explanations of the project in stages. Amy will examine each individual’s work and give valuable feedback. The goal is to make drawing/ painting fun while learning to improve art skill.

Graphite Pencil Drawing

What You'll Learn:

In this drawing class, we will learn the fundamentals of art, understanding graphite grey values. We will begin with contour drawing, sight and measuring, perspective, shading and then moving towards fully developed and realistic rendering objects from still life.

 

First set of four weeks: two still life, each will take about two lessons to complete.

 

Art Supplies:

  • Graphite pencils HB, 2B, 4B and 2H.

Watercolor Pencil Drawing

What You'll Learn:

In the Watercolor Pencil Drawing course, we will learn the fundamentals of drawing in colors, and understanding color values, primary colors and how complementary colors work with each other. How to transform the finished art into watercolor pencil drawing.

 

First set of four weeks: two still life, each will about take two lessons to complete.

 

Art Supplies:

  • Faber-Castell Albrecht Durer Watercolor Pencil (High Quality), 36 colors or 60 colors sets.

  • Strathmore 400 Series Colored Pencil paper pad, size 9x12 (see attached ref).

What you'll Learn:

In the Oil Painting class, we will build from skills learned from drawing and combine those with color concept. Understanding color values, primary colors and how complementary colors work with each other in order to bring out the beauty of the finished painting.

 

First set of four weeks: one or two still life, depending on the complexity of each subject matter.

Description:

This is the basic course of the art academic, teaching students to draw objects of real life, such as shapes, space, five-values and light learning. We have eight modules, the online course is 16 hours in total, 5-7pm every Thursday. At the end of the course we will complete two artworks.

Module 1: Explain the three main elements of drawing

Module 2: Study the structure, composition and space

Module 3: Study the lines of structure

Module 4: Composition practice and complete first classroom work

Module 5: Explain the relationship between points,lines and shapes

Module 6: Five values practice and three-dimensional learning
